Common Questions

TRUCK INSURANCE FAQ

What do I need to get a quote?

Your DOT and MC numbers (if you have them), the year, make, VIN and value of each truck and trailer, driver names with license numbers and years of experience, the cargo you haul, your typical operating radius, and loss runs from your current insurer if you have them. Missing a few items? Call us anyway and we'll help you fill in the gaps.

Can you insure a new authority?

In many cases, yes. We work with carriers and programs that write new ventures. Options and pricing depend on your driving experience, equipment and operation, so the quickest way to find out is to tell us about your setup.

I'm leased on to a carrier. What coverage do I need?

Your motor carrier usually provides primary liability while you're under dispatch. You'll typically still need non-trucking liability (bobtail) for when you're off dispatch, physical damage for your truck, and sometimes cargo or occupational accident coverage depending on your lease agreement. We'll review your lease and tell you exactly what's required.

Do you handle federal and state filings?

Yes. We coordinate required filings with your insurance carrier, such as FMCSA insurance filings and state filings like California's, so your authority stays active.

How do I get a certificate of insurance (COI)?

Once your policy is active, just call or email us with the certificate holder's name and address and we'll send it over. Need one for a new broker or shipper? Let us know right away so your load isn't held up.

Which states do you serve?

We're licensed in 14 states: Arizona, California, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
